Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shikhar Dhawan could not play in the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) due to a shoulder injury. Now in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Punjab team will play its seventh match today against Mumbai Indians (MI), but the big question is whether Dhawan will make a comeback in this match or not. In such a situation, PBKS bowling coach Sunil Joshi has given a big update on Dhawan's fitness. He said that Dhawan is undergoing rehabilitation after a shoulder injury.

Before the match against Mumbai, Joshi said, “At present Dhawan is under the care of the medical team. The team is continuously giving us updates about Dhawan. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and in his absence (Sam) Curran is taking charge of the team. Last year too, when Dhawan was injured, Karan was the captain in his place and he led the team well, so we have full confidence in Karan.”

Earlier, Punjab Kings coach Sanjay Bangar had indicated that Dhawan may be out for at least seven to 10 days. He had also said that Karan would lead the team in Dhawan's absence. Punjab Kings will face Mumbai Indians on Thursday. Apart from this, it is doubtful for Dhawan to play in the match against Gujarat Titans on 21st April.

The right-handed batsman has scored 152 runs in 5 matches this season at an average of around 31. During this period, his highest individual score has been 72 runs, while he has batted at a strike rate above 125. He has one half-century to his name. However, he is the highest run scorer for Punjab Kings.
