Rohit Sharma wants the young Indian players to refrain from copying the batting or bowling styles of the star players. The Indian captain was invited to the Club Prairie Fite”s podcast, which has the presence of Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist.

Rohit revealed his liking for Real Madrid, the famous football club in Spain. “I am a big fan of Real Madrid. I do follow English Premier League as well. I went to watch a few EPL games when we were in UK for the series against England,” Rohit Sharma said.

Adam Gilchrist urged him to share a message for the young players trying to establish themselves in the cricketing set-up.

“We have several young players representing India. I always tell them to be themselves rather than trying to be someone else. They see several stars in front of them and start copying their styles, which will definitely put them into trouble. I tell them to follow the way big players train and work hard before a series or a match.

“When I started playing for India as a 20-year-old, I saw the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and many more. However, I can’t be Sachin, Dravid, Gilchrist and Vaughan. I have to be myself. I have made mistakes of trying to play strokes like some of the big players and paid a heavy price. I am telling from my personal experience that any youngsters, who gets a chance to play for India, should play according to his style,” Rohit Sharma said.

Rohit led a young Indian team against England. The hosts won the five-match Test series 4-1. Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel and Akash Deep debuted for the sub-continent team.

Meanwhile, Rohit is playing for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2024. He slammed a hundred in the last game against Chennai Super Kings.
