Hardik Pandya becomes dangerous when he contributes in the batting and bowling departments. He hasn’t bowled much since recovering from an ankle injury.
Pandya suffered an unfortunate injury during the ICC World Cup 2023 and made a comeback in the Indian Premier League 2024. The new captain of Mumbai Indians hasn’t used himself as a bowler in all the games.
His batting display has been below-par with bowlers managing to restrict his strokeplay. Former India player Irfan Pathan doesn’t see him playing for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 unless he starts bowling four overs in every contests.
“He batting doesn’t give confidence and you can’t take him to the World Cup as a specialist batter. Hardik will have to start bowling in every match and take wickets to play for the Indian team. Hardik has rolled his arm over in a few games.
“However, he hasn’t bowled his full quota. Hardik has leaked runs at an alarming rate and that needs to be looked at. If Pandya wants to represent the Men in Blue, Hardik the bowler will have to come forward,” Irfan Pathan said.
Hardik bowled the last of Chennai Super Kings’innings and MS Dhoni hit him for three consecutive sixes. The veteran struck an unbeaten 20 runs off 4 balls. MI lost the game by 20 runs in the end and Hardik’s over played a role in his team’s defeat.
