After losing their first two games in IPL 2025, five-time champions Mumbai Indians finally got off the mark with a home win against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mumbai Indians lost their first game against CSK by 4 wickets and went on to lose their second game by 36 runs against the Gujarat Titans. Notably, MI played their first two games in away conditions and played their third game in their home venue – Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Speaking of the match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first. Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine opened the batting attack for KKR while Boult opened the bowling attack for the Mumbai Indians.

In the very first over, Boult dismissed Narine for duck and made a dramatic start. While Chahar in the next over dismissed de Kock for 1 run and stunned the KKR’s dugout.

Ashwani Kumar who made his debut for Mumbai Indians, bagged his maiden IPL wicket by dismissing Rahane in his very first delivery. Soon Venkatesh Iyer too lost his wicket to Chahar after scoring just three runs.

KKR’s middle-order batters started to lose wickets at regular intervals and struggled to build a partnership.

With Ramandeep Singh’s 12 balls 22 runs, KKR managed to score 116 runs after losing all 10 wickets in 16.2 overs.

While chasing, Mumbai Indians lost their key opening batter Rohit Sharma for 13 runs, but the other opener Ryan Rickelton took a stand and dominated KKR bowlers. With his unbeaten 62 runs, Mumbai Indians registered their first victory of the IPL 2025.
