MS Dhoni urged CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to control the over rate from the start of the LSG chase. However, Ruturaj failed to follow the suggestion, and the team was found to be two-over short at the end of the allotted time. Chennai had to place four instead of five fielders outside the third-yard circle in the 18th over, but that hardly mattered as Chennai had no chance to win the contest.
