If the defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore was not enough after many years, if the defeat at home after a long time against Delhi Capitals was not enough, then the defeat of Kolkata Knight Riders killed the Chennai Super Kings by demolishing the cracks in the fort. Chennai Super Kings's 'Fort Chepock', which proved to be a stronghold of death for opposing teams for the last 17 years, collapsed in the 18th season. Chennai, who is trying to recover from its poor start in IPL 2025, has suffered a fifth consecutive defeat. All this happened in front of the eyes of MS Dhoni, the most successful captain of IPL and Chennai's biggest identity.
KKR defeated by 8 wickets
On Friday, April 11, host Super Kings suffered a crushing defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, which is famous among fans named Chepock. The match proved to be the worst for Chennai in Chepock's IPL history, where the team could score only 103 runs and then lost by 8 wickets. All this happened in the match in which Dhoni returned after 683 days as CSK captain.
CSK's 'Fort Chepock' collapsed
This was the third consecutive defeat of Chennai Super Kings on Chepock ground this season. This is the first time in the history of IPL, when CSK received 3 consecutive defeats in his house.
CSK scored 103 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs, which also proved to be his shortest score while batting first on this ground.
Kolkata Knight Riders won this match in just 10.1 overs. That is, 59 balls already achieved the target. This is the biggest defeat in Chennai's Chepock while batting first (according to balls).
Earlier, there were cracks in Chepock's fort, when in the beginning of the season, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated him by 50 runs. It was also the biggest defeat in the Chepock according to the CSK runs.
Not only this, this was the first time after the first season of 2008, when CSK had to face defeat against RCB in Chepock.
Similarly, for the first time since 2010, Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super Kings at Chepock Stadium.
Not only the Fort of Chepock, but the overall this defeat proved to be very bad for Chennai because for the first time the team faced the 5th consecutive defeat in the history of IPL.
