Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 266/7 against Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2024. The score could have crossed 300-run mark had the visitors not lost four wickets in quick succession. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma went all guns blazing from the first ball of the match and the bowlers were put on the backfoot.
Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu made a bold prediction had Heinrich Klaasen batted till the end of the innings. The South Africa batter managed 15 runs off 8 balls, including 2 sixes. However, he was clean bowled by Axar Patel.
“With the way Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head started, Sunrisers could have crossed the 400-run mark against Delhi Capitals. The visiting team needed Heinrich Klaasen to stay till the 20th over of the innings. He is the most dangerous batter in this format of the game and he can hit regular sixes on fast bowlers and spinners. You can’t stop him once he gets going. Delhi were lucky that he didn’t carry on for a long time otherwise the scorecard would have seen a spike,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.
It was Travis Head, who started the carnage and then Abhishek Sharma matched him after getting coming on strike. Australia star put up 89 runs off 32 balls, including 11 fours and 6 sixes. On the other hand, Sharma amassed 46 off 12, with the help of 6 sixes and 2 fours. However, the moment Kuldeep Yadav got their wickets, the scoring rate dropped.
Abdul Samad provided the final touch with a fine 59 not out off 29 balls, packed with 5 sixes and 2 fours. Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets.
