Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir have sorted out their differences and the two were involved in serious discussion ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru match at the Eden Gardens. KKR will play against RCB on April 21. It is the return fixture in the 17th season, with Kolkata beating the Faf du Plessis-led team in Bengaluru.
Virat Kohli scored a hundred but it was not enough to stop the visitors. Former RCB captain and KKR mentor Gambhir were on the field during the strategic time-out. Kohli was batting, while Gautam came out to speak to his players about the plans for the remaining part of the RCB innings.
Kohli went to Gambhir and the former teammates were seen talking to each other. Virat gave a warm hug to the Delhi-based player to resolve their past issues.
They had a nasty fight in IPL 2023 when Gautam was with Lucknow Super Giants. Kohli was sledging Naveen Ul Haq of LSG and the two players were involved in a heated argument after the game. Gambhir didn’t like what Virat did to Naveen and he started arguing with the RCB star. They were separated by players.
Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu reacted to the newly found friendship between two legendary cricketers. “Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are no enemies. I would repeat what late Sushma Swaraj said in the parliament about the government and the opposition members. “We are rivals but not enemies,” she once said.
“Both Gambhir and Virat are fierce competitors and they play to win matches. It doesn’t mean they are against each other. It is good to see their latest video from the Eden Gardens. Their bond is soothing to eyes,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.
Gambhir once gave his Player of the Match award to Virat Kohli to boost his confidence.
