Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been stopped for a week due to increasing military tension between India and Pakistan. This decision has caused a big turn in the tournament and there has been a confusion among the fans.
SRH and LSG started ticket refund process
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have started the return process of tickets for their respective domestic matches. SRH was to play the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday, May 10, but now it will not be a match. SRH wrote on social media, “Latest information: In view of the current situation, Tata IPL 2025 has been postponed with immediate effect. The ticket refund information will be shared soon.”
LSG match also canceled
The match of Lucknow Super Giants against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 9 has also been canceled. This was the first match on which IPL suspension had a direct impact. LSG said in its official statement, “Tonight’s match has been canceled at BRSABV Ekana Stadium. Ticket refund will be given soon.”
Big decision taken for security reasons
BCCI took this decision during the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals on 8 May in Dharamshala, when air red sirens started ringing in the nearby Pathankot city. After this, the match had to be stopped in between. In view of the security reasons, the board decided to stop the IPL for a week.
How many matches are left?
So far, 58 matches of IPL 2025 have been completed. There are 16 matches left in the tournament, including the playoffs and finals (on 25 May). However, given the situation, it is not clear when the tournament will start again.
Uncertainty about future
BCCI has not released any new schedule so far and has set any date to resume the tournament. Fans and franchises are now fearing long breaks as national security is the biggest priority at this time.
