The Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) is likely to resume later this week with the PCB aiming to hold the remaining games in Pakistan.
The tournament was initially suspended due to escalating IND-PAK tension due to border tensions. However, after Ceasefire, the situation has cooled down a little, despite the occasional violation by Pakistan.
According to the media, the PCB are expected to resume the tournament by May 16 and will be held in Rawalpindi. On the other hand, it is learned that the officials have informed franchises that foreign players should remain in Dubai as preparations for resumption.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan players are asked to assemble in Islamabad. If PSL 2025 is set to resume, the possibility of it being held in Rawalpindi looks bleak. If reports are believed, the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
was hit in a drone attack, amid the recent Indo-Pak hostilities. Visuals of the incident went viral on social media and was also shared by a Pakistani journalist. There has been no official confirmation on this yet.
There have been no official update from the Pakistan Board or tournament officials.
However, the reports suggests that the PSL management are already started logistical preparations. The tournament was postponed in the final stages with 27 games has been completed. With eight more fixtures are remaining, the competition are initially set scheduled to continue until May 18.
Speaking on the PSL 2025 suspension, PCB said, “The last 24 hours have seen a worsening of the situation.”
“The decision to postpone has been taken pursuant to advice received from the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
“Cricket, while being a unifying force and a source of joy, must take a respectful pause when the country is facing such callous opposition.
“We have sincere regard for the mental well-being of participating players and the sentiments of our foreign players, and we respect the concerns of their families who want to see them back home,” concluded PCB statement.
