Apart from Australian players, most overseas players are set to be back in IPL 2025 for the remainder of the tournament. Pat Cummins is almost confirmed to take part in the last stage of the tournament.

Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg is talking to all the players who are in contention to represent the franchises in the Indian Premier League, and they will all make their decision tonight.

Earlier, Cricket Australia released a statement that CA will support players in their individual decisions whether to rejoin the Indian Premier League or not.

"Team management will work through preparation implications for the World Test Championship Final for those players who choose to play in the remaining IPL matches." CA stated.

How many Australian players are in IPL 2025?

There are a total of 16 Aussie players who are representing different franchises in the Indian Premier League 2025. But two of them are on the injury list, like Josh Hazlewood, who might opt out of the remainder of the tournament and Glenn Maxwell, who has already returned to Australia due to an injury.

Punjab Kings have the most number of Aussie players in the Indian Premier League. They have five Aussies, including Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Xavier Bartlett, Mitchell Owen and Aaron Hardie. And also Glenn Maxwell ruled out of the tournament.

Status of Australia players in Indian Premier League right now

Pat Cummins and Travis Head are all set to return in the IPL 2025. With no chance of qualifying for the playoffs, they still have two matches remaining in the IPL 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders.

In the RCB camp, their strike bowler Josh Hazlewood will not return to India as he is suffering from an injury.

Mitchell Starc's status is unclear whether he will be returning to India or not, and like his teammate in Delhi Capitals, Jake Fraser McGurk, is also unlikely to return to India.

In the PBKS camp, Josh Inglis is unsure of returning because he is named in the Australian squad for the WTC 2025 final. Other than him, all Aussies including their coach Ricky Pointing will join the Indian Premier League.

Indian Premier League resumes on May 17

After security concerns, IPL 2025 was suspended midway on May 8, but after nine days, the greatest cricket league is all set to resume with following all protocols.

There are two double-headers and six venues have been finalised for the remainder of the tournament. The matches will be played on the central and southern part of the nation.

The venue for the IPL 2025 final hasn't been finalised, but according to the reports, Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat will host the final. The iconic Wankhede stadium will host the Qualifier and Eliminator.
