Chennai Super Kings will be missing the services of England all-rounders Jamie Overton and Sam Curran for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The season is set to resume on May 17.

“Jamie Overton and Sam Curran are not available. Others are coming,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told Indian Today.

New Zealand players Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra are also set to rejoin the squad. South Africa’s Dewald Brevis, signed as a replacement earlier in the season, announced on social media that he was returning to India to join the Super Kings. Australia’s Nathan Ellis and Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana will also be available, along with Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmed, their leading wicket-taker of the 18th season.

Jamie Overton has been named in England’s ODI and T20I squads for their upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies, starting on June 29. CSK are no longer in contention for the play-offs, and they will play against Rajasthan Royals in Delhi on May 20, followed by their final match of the season against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on May 25.

The availability of overseas players has become a concern ahead of the IPL’s resumption. Many players returned home after the BCCI suspended the tournament for a week due to tension between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack on April 22. The IPL final, originally set for May 25, will now be held on June 3. The BCCI is in talks with other cricket boards to ensure player participation in the remaining 17 matches, including the playoffs and final.

Australian and South African players are uncertain about their involvement in the playoffs due to the World Test Championship final starting on June 11. Cricket Australia confirmed that it would support players’ decisions regarding travelling to India. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood are unlikely to return, but Pat Cummins and Travis Head will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are already out of the playoffs.

England’s team faces scheduling clashes, with a one-off Test against Zimbabwe from May 22 to 25, followed by ODIs and T20Is against the West Indies between May 29 and June 10.
