Sanju Samson has returned for the resumption of IPL 2025 as the Rajasthan Royals prepare for the final two matches of the season.
Although the Royals are already eliminated, they are expected to showcase their prowess in the final group stage encounters.
Ahead of that, Samson returned to the team's camp in Jaipur, where the Royals will play their next match against Punjab Kings, on Sunday (May 18).
And MyKhel understands that Samson is set to play the final two matches of the season. The Kerala batter, who is also the captain of RR, has successfully recovered from his abdominal tear and is expected to lead the team for the remaining encounters.
Samson has been in continuous training despite his injury, which he suffered in a match against Delhi Capitals last month. The India star didn't travel to Bengaluru for a match immediately after his injury, but continued his rehabilitation in Jaipur.
The Rajasthan management was taking a day-by-day approach with Samson, but IPL's hiatus gave the needful window for Samson to return to full fitness. The Royals were in Chennai before the IPL was suspended for a week due to the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. And the additional time due to the hiatus has provided Samson enough time to recuperate as he has regained fitness.
He spent a couple of days in Kerala before flying to Jaipur to reassemble with the Rajasthan Royals. The 30-year-old has so far played seven matches this season, scoring 224 runs at an average of 32 and a strike rate north of 143.
Samson's IPL campaign this season has been ravaged by injuries. The Kerala star was used only as a batter for the first three matches of the season due to a finger injury.
The Royals are also set to welcome their Indian core, as Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Riyan Parag have others have also joined the team. The Royals also roped in South African Lhuan-dre Pretorius to replace injured Nitish Rana for the remainder of the season. Along with that, Jofra Archer is also set to be unavailable for the remainder of the season.
