Delhi: Former New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has been appointed as Specialist Skills Consultant for the England men’s cricket team. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said that Saudi has been given this responsibility on a short-term (short-term) basis and will work closely with the team’s head coach Brendon McCullum, who himself has been the captain of the New Zealand team.
The Saudi will join the England team before the Test match starting against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge from May 22 and will remain with the team by the end of the 5 -match Test series against India.
ECB said in a statement, “Saudi has a long experience of playing different situations around the world and playing in all formats. The players will get to learn a lot from their experience.”
After completing this role of coaching, Tim Southee will be seen playing for the Birmingham Phoenix team in the ‘The Hundred’ tournament. This competition will start from 5 August.
Significantly, Tim Southee retired from international cricket last year. He has been the highest wicket -taker of New Zealand. In his career, he took 776 wickets in a total of 394 matches, including five wickets and ten wickets once.
Not only bowling, Saudi was also special in batting. He finished fourth in the list of players who hit the most sixes in Test cricket. He has 98 sixes in his names, with only Ben Stokes (133), Brendon McCullum (107), and Adam Gilchrist (100).
The England team has not yet reached the finals in the first two seasons of the World Test Championship (WTC). In such a situation, she is expecting better performance this time.
Apart from this, England will also host the series of three ODIs and three T20 matches against the West Indies from 29 May to 10 June. These matches will be played in Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Bristol, Chester-Le-Street and Southhampton.
The England Test series against India will start on June 20 at the Handingley Stadium in Leeds.
