Many teams have made changes in their players before the IPL 2025 resumes. Punjab Kings (PBKS) have included Kyle Jamieson in place of the injured Lockie Ferguson, while the Gujarat Titans (GT) has added Kusal Mendis to the team instead of Jos Buttler. At the same time, Lucknow Super Giants have signed William O’Rourke of New Zealand to be out of Mayank Yadav due to back injury.

IPL 2025 was stopped for a few days due to increased tension on the border between India and Pakistan. Now the tournament will start again from 17 May. However, some foreign players have now refused to return, while some have commitments with national teams. Meanwhile, BCCI has given a change in replacement rules on 14 May, allowing teams to add new foreign players, making the squad strong.

The very next day, Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants announced their replacement players. Punjab Kings have inducted Kyle Jamison in the team in place of Lockie Ferguson. Ferguson has been ruled out of the tournament due to Hamstring injury. Jamison has been signed for Rs 2 crore.

Gujarat Titans have chosen Kusal Mendis as a replacement in place of Jose Butler. Butler will join the national team after playing the last match of the league stage against Chennai on 25 May. In such a situation, Mendis will join GT from 26 May. He has been signed for Rs 75 lakh. Lucknow Super Gynts have included William O’Rurke into the team after Mayank Yadav was out of the back injury. The New Zealand fast bowler has been purchased at a base price of Rs 3 crore. BCCI has given relief to franchises by changing the rules. Now it has to be seen how effective these new players prove to the teams.

Talking about the playoffs, the qualifier 1 and eliminator will be played on 29 and 30 May respectively, while the qualifier will be on 1 June and the final on 3 June. The playoff matches will be announced soon.
