Kyle Jamieson Replaces Lockie Ferguson in Punjab Kings For IPL 2025

New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson has replaced Lockie Ferguson in the Punjab Kings for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season.

The fast bowler replaces fellow Lockie Ferguson, who has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury.

The official confirmation came via a press release jointly issued by the IPL and the Mohali-based franchise on May 15.

Jamieson has previously represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which has been acquired by Punjab Kings for INR 2 crore. In the past, he was signed for INR 15 crore by Bengaluru in the IPL 2021 auction, and in nine matches, he picked up eight wickets in addition to scoring 65 runs with the bat.

The 30-year old cricketer was signed by Chennai Super Kings as well for INR 1 crore in the mini auction held ahead of the IPL 2023 season, but due to injury, he got ruled out of the entire season.

“Punjab Kings (PBKS) have picked Kyle Jamieson as a replacement for Lockie Ferguson, who is ruled out of the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a hamstring injury. The right-arm Kiwi pacer will join PBKS for INR 2 crore,” the IPL statement read.

Kyle Jamieson has played a total of 82 T20s so far, having picked 94 wickets and scored 461 runs. The cricketer from Auckland was playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Quetta Gladiators a couple of weeks ago.

Punjab Kings have 15 points in 11 matches played so far, PBKS are third in the IPL 2025 points table and Shreyas Iyer’s men are very much alive in the playoffs race.

If they manage to win atleast one of their remaining three league matches against RR, DC and MI, then they are very much alive in the playoffs race.

If they manage to win at least one of their remaining three leagues against RR, DC and MI, then they are guaranteed to finish in the top four and feature in the IPL playoffs for the first time since the 2014 season.
