BCCI Announces India ‘A’ Squad For England Tour; Abhimanyu Easwaran To Lead, Karun Nair, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur Included

India A is set to tour England later this month for a series of first-class matches, and the BCCI has unveiled a strong squad featuring a mix of youth and experience.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been appointed captain of the team, which will take on the England Lions in two matches ahead of a fixture against the senior Indian side.

The squad sees the return of Karun Nair and Ishan Kishan, both of whom have been looking to make a mark in red-ball cricket.

Dhruv Jurel, who impressed in the recent domestic season, has been named the vice-captain. The selectors have also included exciting young talents like Nitish Kumar Reddy and Sarfaraz Khan, while experienced campaigners such as Shardul Thakur and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been drafted in to add depth to the squad.

Notably, Gaikwad missed IPL 2025 due to injury but has now recovered and is ready to return to competitive action. Yashasvi Jaiswal, another promising name in Indian cricket, also features in the squad.

According to the BCCI's official announcement, top-order batters Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will not be available for the first match but will join the squad ahead of the second fixture. Their addition is expected to bolster the batting unit for the latter part of the tour.

The two four-day matches against the England Lions are scheduled to be held at Canterbury on May 30 and at Northampton on June 6. These encounters are seen as vital preparation opportunities, especially for those pushing for a place in the senior national Test team.

The tour will conclude with an intriguing contest between India A and the senior Indian men's team, providing the youngsters a chance to test themselves against the best in the country.
