But it looks like the stars have aligned this season to make sure that RCB get their first taste of what winning an IPL trophy actually feels like.
With the resumption of the IPL, many foreign players have decided not to come back, either due to personal or national commitments, leaving many teams vulnerable.
While GT would be without Jos Buttler, MI would have to make do without Ryan Rickelton. PBKS has suffered a triage of losses in the form of Stoinis, Maxwell, and Jansen.
In a similar manner, DC will lose the services of two of their star players in the form of Mitchell Starc and Faf du Plessis.
This has left RCB in a particularly good position, as they would still have the services of Phil Salt and Josh Hazlewood.
It will be interesting to see if this overpowered RCB can actually go on to do the unthinkable, snatching the trophy from the jaws of elimination this season of the IPL.
Because let's be frank, if it can't do it this season, then it should just leave the hopes of doing it in any other season as well.
