Parvez Hossain Emon was on fire in the first T20I against UAE and scored a breathtaking century to help Bangladesh beat UAE by 27 runs.

Hossain scored a hundred in just 54 balls to help Bangladesh post a solid score of 191-7 in 20 overs. UAE got off to a flyer in the chase and added 40 runs in 22 balls before Muhammad Zohaib lost his wicket. Muhammad Waseem fought hard for the side and scored 54 in 39 balls, but this was not enough for the UAE to pull off an upset. Credit must also be given to Asif Khan, who hit lusty blows in the final overs, scoring 42 in 21 balls, and giving Bangladesh a scare, but the visitors held their nerves to win the game.

Parvez Hossain Creates History

Parvez Hossain Emon created history with the stunning hundred. The 54-ball hundred is the fastest by a Bangladesh batter in T20I cricket. The record was held by Tamim Iqbal, who scored 103 in 63 balls against Oman in 2016. Emon is only the second Bangladesh player to score a hundred in T20I cricket.

A Dream Day For Jawadullah

For the UAE, Jawadullah had a great outing with the ball. He picked four wickets for 21 runs to keep Bangladesh in check.

Barring Parvez, every other Bangladesh batsman struggled to get going. The second-best score to Parvez was 21 extras. The second T20I between the two sides will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on May 19. The two-match series will against UAE will be followed by the five-match T20I series against Pakistan. Bangladesh have endured mediocre results in T20Is of late, and with the T20 World Cup lined up next year, they will be looking to get their preparations off to a great start.
