KL Rahul smashed his fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) hundred during Delhi Capitals’ match against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.

Rahul reached the three-digit mark off 60 balls with a four off Prasidh Krishna in the 19th over. He had opened the innings with Faf Du Plessis after Gujarat Titans elected to field.

With his maiden century for the Capitals, Rahul became the first batter in IPL history to score hundreds for three different teams. He has previously scored hundreds for Punjab Kings (2019, 2020) and Lucknow Super Giants (2022).

Rahul has also struck two tons in India colours on the international stage, making this his seventh century in all T20s.

The 33-year-old now has the fourth most number of hundreds in the IPL, after Virat Kohli (8), Jos Buttler (7) and Chris Gayle (6).

During his knock on Sunday, Rahul also became the fastest Indian to amass 8,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved the feat in his 224th innings, going past Virat Kohli, who took 243 innings to get to the mark.

He was unbeaten on 112 off 65 balls, with the help of 14 fours and four sixes, and powered Delhi Capitals to 199 for three in 20 overs.
