The Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh has smashed a fifty during the IPL 2025 game against the Rajasthan Royals on May 18 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
Punjab Kings went on to score 219 runs in their 20-over innings after impressive knocks from Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh.
Batting first, Punjab Kings lost the wickets of the top order within the powerplay. Tushar Deshpande bagged the wickets of openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran, while Kwena Maphaka bagged the wicket of Mitch Owen for a duck.
With Prabhsimran’s dismissal in the fourth over, they went on to lose three wickets for 34 runs. However, Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera went on to stabilize the innings.
But Riyan Parag went on to bag the wicket of Shreyas Iyer for 30 runs while Wadhera went on to score 70 runs before being dismissed by Akash Madhwal.
with Shashank Singh’s 59* and Azmatullah’s 21*, Punjab went on to post a high target against Rajasthan.
Speaking at the toss Shreyas Iyer said, “We are going to bat first. The wicket looks fantastic, know how it plays here. The powerhouse has been our batting, so got to make the best use of it.”
“Everyone is in high spirits. The mindset has been strong. Trying to make the best use of the sources. Kudos to the Army forces. Mitch Owen, Jansen, Omarzai are playing..” concluded Iyer.
On the other hand, Sanju Samson said, “Wanted to bowl first after how the pitch behaved in the last game against RCB. Let’s see how it plays out today. I am okay, hundred percent fit.”
“I would love to respect where he (Suryavanshi) is batting. He has played well for us. I will bat down the order, I come in for Nitish Rana. Maphaka comes in for Jofra Archer..” concluded Samson.
