Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 6-Wicket Victory Knocked Out Lucknow Out of Playoffs Race

A clinical performance from Sunrisers Hyderabad has secured a six wicket victory in the IPL 2025 game against Lucknow Super Giants on May 19 at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

The victory means, Lucknow has been knocked out of the tournament leaving Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians to compete for the final playoffs spot.

Batting first, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram opened the innings while Pat Cummins opened the bowling attack. With an impressive start, the duo went on to score 69 runs in the powerplay.

The duo went on to score fifties each and scored 115 runs for the first wicket. Marsh lost his wicket to Harsh Dubey for 65 runs, which included 6 fours and 4 sixes.

With Rishabh Pant got dismissed cheaply for 7 runs by Eshan Malinga, Markram lost his wicket to Harshal Patel for 61 runs which included 4 fours and 4 sixes.

Withe Ayush Badoni got dismissed for 3 runs, Lucknow Super Giants lost four wickets for 169 runs in the 18th over.

However, Nicholas Pooran went on to display his batting skills scoring 45 runs off 26 deliveries.

In the 19th over, Nitish Reddy went on to bag the three wickets. He bagged the wickets of Nicholas Pooran, Shardul Thakur and Abdul Samad in the final over and also conceded 20 runs in the over.

By the end of 20 over, Lucknow Super Giants went on to score 205 runs at Home ground.

In the pursuit of chasing 206 runs, Atharva Taide and Abhishek Sharma went on to open the attack for Sunrisers Hyderabad while Akash Deep opened the bowling attack.

Despite losing the wicket of the Atharva Taide for 13 runs, Hyderabad went on to score 72 runs in the powerplay.

Abhishek Sharma went on aggressive mode hitting four sixes in a row and made his 59 off 20 deliveries before being dismissed by Digvesh Rathi.

With Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen’s show and Kamindu Mendis’ cameo, they marched towards the victory with ease.

With Aniket Verma and Nitish Reddy remains unbeaten with 5 runs each, they went on to completed the chase in the 19th over with 10 balls to spare.
