Delhi: On Monday, May 19, the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) described the reports as false that India is going to withdraw from the Asia Cup and Women’s Emerging Asia Cup. The board has clearly stated that these reports are just speculation and there is no truth in them.

PCB suffered a big loss due to the removal of India

If India had removed from the Asia Cup, it would have a direct impact on the earnings of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). It is estimated that from India’s participation, PCB earns from ₹ 165 to ₹ 220 crore in every tournament cycle. India-Pakistan matches have a lot of popularity, which brings a large revenue from broadcasting and advertising.

Broadcast rights also affect

Sony Pictures Network India has bought the Broadcasting Rights of Asia Cup from 2024 to 2032 for about $ 170 million. This deal was done keeping in mind India’s participation. If India does not play in the tournament, then the revenue will decrease and the share given to all the teams will also be reduced.

PCB is already in loss

Prior to the Champions Trophy, Pakistan had spent about 14 billion Pakistani rupees to new the stadium. But, due to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan and the final match in Dubai, PCB has lost about Rs 700 crore.

Why could India be removed?

Some media reports said that BCCI can hesitate to participate in the tournament due to Pakistan’s Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s ACC president. Recently, there has been military tension between India and Pakistan, due to which it was intensified.

India is hosting Asia Cup 2025

India is hosting the Asia Cup to be held in September this year, which will be played in T20 format. At the same time, Sri Lanka has been hosted by the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup. In 2023, India also played matches in Sri Lanka under the hybrid model in the Asia Cup hosting Pakistan.
