Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) opener and wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton has achieved a big feat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He has become the wicketkeeper with the most catches so far this season. Rickelton has made 16 catches so far, which is more than Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)’s Jitesh Sharma (15) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni (10).

Ricky has performed well not only behind the wickets but also with the bat. He has scored 361 runs in 13 matches. However, it is a setback for Mumbai Indians that he will be out of the team after playing his last league match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Actually, he has been included in South Africa’s Test team, which will play the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia. For this reason, Ricky will not be available in the IPL playoffs. In his place, Mumbai has included Johnny Bairstow in their team.

Rickelton’s performance in the match against Delhi

In the match against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium, Ricky Ponting scored 25 runs in 18 balls. He showed his form by hitting two consecutive sixes against Dushmantha Chameera, but could not play a long innings. At one time Mumbai looked in trouble, but the partnership of Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dheer brought the team to a strong position. Suryakumar scored an unbeaten 73 runs in 43 balls, while Naman scored an unbeaten 24 runs in 8 balls. On the basis of this, Mumbai scored 180 runs in the first innings.

Delhi lost due to the brilliant bowling of Bumrah-Santner

While chasing the target, Delhi’s team never got into rhythm and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Jaspreet Bumrah and Mitchell Santner bowled lethally and took three wickets each. Bumrah conceded 12 runs and Santner conceded just 11 runs.

With this win, Mumbai Indians became the fourth team to make it to the playoffs. At the same time, Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2025 campaign came to an end. However, they will hope to perform better in their last league match against Punjab Kings.
