The Lucknow Super Giants bowler William O’Rourke went on to display a stunning bowling display during the IPL 2025 game against the Gujarat Titans on May 22 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
He went on to bag three wickets at a crucial time to seal a 33-run victory in Thursday’s clash.
Batting first, Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh opened the attack while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack. The batting duo went on to score 53 runs in the powerplay and went on to trouble GT bowlers.
However, Sai Kishore bagged the wicket of Markram in the 10th over. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh went on to smash a fifty and with Pooran joining him, aiming for a mammoth total in the score card.
Marsh went on to hit a century and Pooran hit his fifty which included four fours and four sixes. Mitchell Marsh went on to score 117 runs off 64 deliveries which included 10 fours and 8 sixes before being dismissed by Arshad Khan.
With Luckow lost their second wicket for 212 runs, Rishabh Pant walked in aiming to complete the innings at high. By the end of 20 overs, Pooran and Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten with 56 and 16 respectively.
In the pursuit of chasing 236 runs, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Akash Maharaj Singh opened the bowling attack.
William O’Rourke bagged the wicket of Sudharsan for 21 runs, with Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill going on to score 67 runs in the powerplay.
After Avesh Khan went on to dismissing Shubman Gill for 35 runs, Buttler went on to lose his wicket to Maharaj Singh on 33.
However, Sherfane Rutherford and Shahrukh Khan went on to anchor the innings posting a 86 run partnership for the fourth wicket. Shahrukh Khan’s heroics (57) went in vain as the side went on to lose wickets at quick succession.
After the dismissal of the Rutherford for 38 runs, the Titans faced a collapse in the lineup where they went on to lose 5 wickets for 20 runs.
William O’Rourke bagged three wickets while, Avesh Khan and Ayush Badoni bagged two wickets each and Akash Maharaj and Shahbaz Ahmed bagged one wicket each.
