Team India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of England Test series. According to chief selector Ajit Agarkar, Shami is not fit for the longest format of the game and the medical panel of the BCCI told the decision-makers about the fitness of the pacer.
“Mohammed Shami is not fit and he can’t manage his workload in Test cricket at the moment. Shami has been ruled out of the series. The medical team told us that his body is not capable of handling the pressure of red-ball cricket. There is no point of taking a bowler whose fitness is not upto the mark,” Ajit Agarkar said.
Shami played his last Test in 2023 and was out of action for a long time after going under the knife to fix his ankle injury. The veteran was not considered for the last three Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
He was given a chance in white-ball matches against England and also played a key role in the team’s success in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, his form dipped in the Indian Premier League 2025. He was dropped from the playing XI by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
