Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli was fined match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct in the 36th match of IPL 2024 played against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Sunday (April 21). 50 percent fine has been imposed.
Kohli has been found guilty of a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to dissenting from an umpire's decision.
A press release by BCCI/IPL stated that Kohli has admitted his mistake and accepted the punishment of the match referee. Let us tell you that for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, the match referee's decision is “final and binding”.
He was caught by fast bowler Harshit Rana on the first ball of the third over of RCB's innings. After this the field umpire declared Virat out, however Kohli looked angry with the umpire's decision and because he felt that this ball was a no ball because the height of the ball was above his waist.
Kohli demanded DRS, but the third umpire also upheld the decision and gave him out. After this, Kohli looked angry and got into a fight with the field umpire. He returned to the pavilion showing anger.
Let us tell you that in a thrilling match, RCB had to face defeat by 1 run at the hands of KKR. Batting first, KKR scored 222 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. In response, RCB scored 221 runs.
Kohli is in great form in the current season and is at number one among the players who have scored the most runs. He has scored 379 runs in eight matches, which includes one century and two half-centuries.
