Chennai Super Kings stand-in captain MS Dhoni once again refused to end the mystery on his IPL future. After leading the franchise to an 83-run win over the Gujarat Titans, the veteran spoke about his plans. At 43, Dhoni lost his winning touch with the bat, and his fitness levels declined. He was retained as an uncapped player and returned as a captain after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured.

With just 8 points from 14 matches, Chennai finished the season in the 10th position for the first time in their history.

Dhoni started the team preparation for the next season after the five-time champions were eliminated from the playoff race.

Harsha Bhogle spoke to Dhoni after the match, and the legendary wicket-keeper played a guessing game. “I have four-five months to decide. The effort needed to return gets double when you compare it to last season. Performances are not always the parameters to judge someone. If this would have been the case, some of the players had retired at 22. The contribution is more important,” MS Dhoni said.

“I am not saying I am done. I am not saying I am coming back. I want to go back home and drive my bikes in Ranchi. I have the luxury of time before revealing my decision,” he added.
