Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 37 runs in the first T20I of the three-match series. Chasing 202, the visitors were bowled out for 164 runs in 19.2 overs.

Captain Litton Das scored 48 runs off 30 balls, with the help of 3 sixes and 1 four. Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan struck 31 runs off 17 deliveries, laced with 3 sixes and 2 boundaries. Jaker Ali’s 36 runs came in 21 balls. He hit 3 sixes and 1 four. However, the remaining batters were undone by Pakistan bowlers.

Hasan Ali, who was recalled to the side after a long gap, took four wickets.

Vice-captain Shadab Khan dismissed two batters and conceded just 26 runs from four overs.

Earlier, Pakistan’s captain, Salman Afga, won the toss and elected to bat first. Fakhar Zaman scored 1 run while his opening partner, Saim Ayub, failed to open his account. Mohammad Haris, the no.3 batter and Salman added important runs. Haris managed 31 runs off 18 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six, while Afga amassed 56 off 34, packed with 8 fours and 1 six.

The match-changing acceleration came from Hasan Nawaz and Shadab. Shadab smashed 48 runs off just 25 balls.

He hit five boundaries and 2 maximums. Nawan contributed 44 in 22 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 2 fours.

Faheem Ashraf remained not out on 11 runs off 6 balls. Shoriful Islam claimed two scalps, while Mahedi Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Rishad Hossain and Shamim Hossain got rid of one batter each.

He hit five boundaries and 2 maximums. Nawan contributed 44 in 22 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 2 fours.
