Former England Women captain Heather Knight has been ruled out of action for this summer after suffering a significant tendon injury to her right hamstring. The official confirmation of the injury has been made by England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday, adding that the veteran batter is ruled out of the upcoming 'Women's The Hundred 2025'.

"An MRI scan has revealed that Heather Knight has suffered a significant tendon injury to her right hamstring and will be ruled out of home international cricket and The Hundred in 2025. She will now undergo further assessment with the England Women’s medical team to determine the next steps of her management.  Although no return date can be set at this stage, it is hoped Heather will be available for selection for the ICC Women’s World Cup in September 2025," said England & Wales Cricket Board in a released statement on Thursday, May 29.

Heather Knight encountered her injury issues during the recently-concluded three-match T20I series against West Indies Women, which England Women won comprehensively by the scoreline of 3-0. The veteran batter scored a magnificent unbeaten 66, but the injury issues prevented her from taking the field in the 2nd innings, and is now ruled out for the summer.

The National Board believes that the right-handed batter will make in time for the Women's ODI World Cup 2025, which will be held in September, in India.

Alice Capsey Replaces Heather Knight

Heather Knight was already doubtful for the ODI series againt West Indies Women, to which, England actedacted swiftly by announcing all-rounder Alice Capsey as a cover.

With the confirmation of Knight's injury, the young all-rounder gets drafted into the 16-member squad alongside, Lauren Filer, who returns to the national set-up after successfully recovering from her knee injury.
