Kusal Mendis’ Bizarre Hit-Wicket Leaves Gujarat Titans Stunned in Big Run-Chase

The Wk-batter Kusal Mendis’s bizarre hit wickets have wounded the Gujarat Titans in the mammoth run chase in the Eliminators of the IPL 2025 game against Mumbai Indians on May 30 at Maharaj Yadavindra International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur.

In the 229-run chase, he went on to lose his wicket for 20 runs in the 7th over of the game, leaving Gujarat in a tough spot after Shubman Gill’s cheap dismissal.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan opened the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack.

With Shubman Gill’s dismissal by Trent Boult in the first over, Kusal Mendis went on to join Sai to post 66 runs in the power play.

Mumbai Indians and Gujarat are playing in the eliminators game, where the winning team will advance to Qualifier 02.

Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow opened the innings while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack. With Bairstow going on for an aggressive start, he scored 47 runs off 22 deliveries before being dismissed by Sai Kishore.

Along with Rohit Sharma, Jonny made a 84 run partnership for the first wicket.
