Delhi: The England women’s team defeated West Indies by 108 runs in the first ODI played in Derby with the help of Tammy Buomont and Amy Jones’s magnificent centuries.

Jones was sent for the first time after 2019 and scored 122 runs, which was his first international century. Buomont scored 107 runs and together they shared a 222 -run partnership for the first wicket.

England’s new captain Nat Skivor-Brant scored 52 runs in 35 balls, leading England scored a huge score of 345/6 in 50 overs.

In response, West Indies openers Haley Mathews and Kiana Joseph started well and added 91 runs in 14 overs for the first wicket. However, English bowler M Aralot, who is debuting, took a precious wicket of Mathews (48).

Joseph scored the highest 62 runs, but England’s left-arm spinner Lenie Smith destroyed the Windies middle order. He took 5 wickets for 36 runs while bowling brilliantly on his debut and the entire team of West Indies was reduced to 237 runs in the 49th over. England’s start was also cautious and in the first 10 overs, the team scored 45 runs without losing wickets.

Buumont completed his fifty in 74 balls and then completed a century in only 22 balls. She reached a century before Jones and finally bowled by Cherry-N Fraser in the 36th over.

Emma Lamb, who came back to the team due to excellent form in domestic cricket, was sent to number three, but she was caught out by scoring only two runs.

Jones batted a little slowly while getting closer to the century. He was given a life by Jahzara Claxton and Karisma Ramahark respectively at the scores of 91 and 92, but eventually he completed his century in 108 balls.

England has also won 3–0 in the T20 series earlier, while the second ODI will be played in Lester on June 4.
