Shreyas Iyer’ Resilient Knock Helps PBKS to Win Against Mumbai to Qualify for Finals

The Punjab Kings batter Shreyas Iyer has made a solid knock, pushing the side towards victory in the qualifier 2 of the IPL 2025 game against the Mumbai Indians on June 01 at Narendra Modi Stadium.

He went unbeaten 87* runs off 41 deliveries, which included 5 fours and 8 sixes and helped the side to chase 203 runs in 19 overs. By winning, Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings have qualified for the finals to meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the summit clash.

Batting first, Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow opened the innings while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack. After Rohit Sharma‘s dismissal for 8 runs, Tilak Varma joined the opener to post 65 runs in the powerplay.

With his dismissal, Mumbai lost three wickets for 142 runs in the 14th over. Meanwhile Jamieson picked the wicket of Tilak Varma for 44 runs.

Azmatullah Omarzai picked the wickets of Hardik Pandya and Naman Dhir for 15 and 37 runs. Adding Raj Bawa’s 8* runs, Mumbai Indians went on to score 203 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.

In the pursuit of chasing the target, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh went on to open the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack.

With the dismissal of Prabhsimran for 6 runs, Priyansh Arya went on to lose his wicket for 20 runs.

However Josh Inglis went on to take on the Mumbai bowlers scoring 38 runs off 21 deliveries before being dismissed by Hardik Pandya.

Anyway, Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera went on to pick the innings steadily marching towards the target. However Ashwani Kumar went on to bag the wicket of Nehal Wadhera for 48 runs while Shashank Singh was sent out on a run out for 2 runs.

Meanwhile Shreyas Iyer went on to score his fifty guiding his side towards victory. With Marcus Stoinis and Iyer at the crease, Punjab Kings needed 23 runs in last two overs.

However, Shreyas Iyer went on to ramphage mode hitting four sixes in the 19th over along with a no ball and a wide has helped the side to complete the chase with six balls to spare.
