Roger Binny will withdraw from the post of BCCI president, now this person will get important responsibility

Delhi: Rajiv Shukla, vice -president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), may hold the post of interim president of the board next month. According to the BCCI Constitution, the current president and 1983 World Cup winning team member Roger Binny will not be 70 years old on July 19, after which he will not be able to hold this post. Sports have informed that Shukla will currently hold the post of chairman of the board, until new elections are held.

Roger Binny became the BCCI president in 2022. He took over the post from former India captain Sourav Ganguly. Now Rajiv Shukla will be the executive chairman of the board during the England tour.

India’s big win during Binny’s tenure

During Roger Binny’s tenure, India’s men’s team achieved many big achievements. India made it to the finals of the ODI World Cup played in their home in 2023, where he lost to Australia. After this, India won the T20 World Cup in Barbados in 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Then in 2025, India also won the title of Champions Trophy in Dubai.

Roger Binny’s cricket career

Roger Binny made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1979 in Bengaluru. A year later, he made his ODI debut against Australia on MCG. He took the most 18 wickets in the 1983 World Cup. In the final, he took the crucial wicket of West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and conceded just 23 runs in 10 overs.

In 1987, Binny played his last Test and ODI. He took 47 wickets in 27 Tests, including five wickets hall twice. Taking 77 wickets in 72 matches in ODIs. He also has five centuries in Tests and one half century in ODIs.
