Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody doesn’t think Mumbai Indians will sack Hardik Pandya midseason after the franchise’s poor run in the Indian Premier League 2024. The five-time champions are seventh in the points table, with three wins and five defeats.

Hardik’s return from Gujarat Titans was a big move, but all the expectations from the all-rounder have gone downhill. Pandya has become a pale shadow of his illustrious past in the tournament. He cannot score runs, take wickets and lead from the front. The Broad-based player started panicking, forcing Rohit to lead the team against Punjab Kings.

Hardik took the command against Rajasthan Royals, resulting in another loss. Moody said that Mumbai decided to replace Rohit Sharma, one of the most loved IPL captains.

“It is difficult to change. You have made a massive decision. It is not just a change in captaincy. This was a big move because you changing one of the most favourite captains of the IPL certainly of Mumbai Indians. He has got remarkable record in IPL. You have made that decision. I think going back on that decision will be a big move to make,” Tom Moody said on ESPNcricinfo.

Hardik is still hoping to get support from the fans, as he has been booed at all venues. The trend continued in Jaipur as well. Mumbai will have to win all the remaining six games to stand a chance to play in the playoffs.
