Delhi: Tuesday became a historic day for cricket lovers when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ended the 18 -year drought by winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 title. But, just before this moment, the legendary batsman of the team Virat Kohli announced to retire from Test cricket.

Kohli played 123 matches in a 14 -year -long Test career, scoring 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85. During this time, 30 centuries and 31 half -centuries came out of his bat.

Meanwhile, former Australia captain and Greg Chappell reacted to Kohli’s Test retirement, saying that when an experienced batsman starts taking time at the crease, or hesitating to play normal shots, it is a sign of his mental and physical tiredness.

Chappell shared his last Test experience saying, “I was able to think in my last match, but could not take the initiative. There was hesitation in the footwork and doubts in the mind had done home, when the age increases, mental clarity and edge gradually starts decreasing.”

Chappell further said that this farewell of Kohli is an example that the form depends on the mental state more than the technical aspects. In Test cricket, where there is a need to play thoughtfully, the player has to take immediate decisions in the limited overs format, so that he can play openly.

Along with saying goodbye to Test cricket, Virat Kohli concluded an era, but also won the IPL title and also expressed that his journey is still going on.
