Sourav Ganguly is still considered the best left-handed batter to play for India. He recorded several milestones in one-day internationals and Test cricket. He is credited for teaching India the habit of winning in rough conditions and against strong opponents. Ganguly was also renowned for hitting effortless sixes. Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu has compared Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shivam Dube to the legendary India batter.
Sidhu said Dube is better than Ganguly when it comes to hitting on the rise sixes. “Shivam Dube has scored the most runs for Chennai Super Kings this season. He used to get stuck in short-pitched deliveries, but the young player has solved his concern. Dube is hitting the pacers hard.
“Dube is a better player than Sourav Ganguly when it comes to hitting on the rise sixes. Sourav was all about the timing but Dube is using his power to send the ball into the stands,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports.
Shivam has been a revelation for the five-time champions in the last two seasons. His impressive display this season is likely to get him a spot in Team India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
