Lucknow: Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has chosen the top order of Team India for the T20 World Cup 2024, in which he has named his top-3 batsmen including captain Rohit Sharma. Let us tell you that at present all the players are busy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and after its end the World Cup is to be played. For this, Team India's squad has to be announced by May 1. However, this is not going to be less of a headache for the selectors because there are many players competing among themselves for one place.

Irfan has selected his top-3 for this World Cup and with this some players may feel disappointed. Actually, Rohit will be the captain and in such a situation he will be seen starting the innings from one side. So there is a continuous discussion going on as to who will be his partner. Some people believe that veteran batsman Virat Kohli should open with Rohit, while some are suggesting the name of Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, Pathan has shared his views on the X account.

He wrote, “The World Cup is now coming closer. In such a situation, top 3 batsmen for me for Team India. The first will be Rohit Sharma who is the captain and his form is also with him. Yashasvi will open with him, who has proved by scoring a century that he should be there. Virat Kohli should be at number three. No questions should be raised about his place or strike rate in the World Cup. His T20I strike rate is over 138 and his average is over 51, which is even higher than Chris Gayle. Apart from this, he is batting at a strike rate of 150 in IPL this season.

Let us tell you that earlier, while giving his opinion regarding the World Cup, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly had talked about opening the innings with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He says that Kohli has the ability to score a century in 40 balls. Apart from this, his experience in West Indies can also be useful for the Indian team. However, now it will be interesting to see with which opening pair India enters the World Cup. The answer to this question can be found to some extent with the selection of the team.
