Former India player Harbhajan Singh feels Sanju Samson can become the best India captain after Dhoni. Samson is leading Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024, and he led the franchise to the final of the league in 2022. He has also led Kerala in domestic cricket across formats.
In the ongoing season, RR are leading the points table with seven wins. He is among the top run-getters in the cash-rich league, and his performance behind the stumps has been magnificent.
“Sanju Samson should play for India as a wicket-keeper in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He deserves to be the team’s number-one choice in the global tournament. I feel he is captaincy material. He can be India’s best captain after MS Dhoni. I admire him for the way he is leading Rajasthan in this season. He is calm and has been making good decisions since the first game. The bowling changes and field placements are bringing success to the team.
“The selectors should not only look at him as a wicket-keeper batter. He should be groomed as the next captain of India. Samson shouldn’t be ignored as he is in the form of his life,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.
