Delhi: After winning IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) veteran batsman Virat Kohli said that the feeling of playing Test cricket is more special than winning the IPL. He described it as “five levels up”. Cricket fans appreciated Kohli’s statement, but the all -rounder of West Indies Andre Russell did not agree.

Andre Russell raised questions on economic difference

Russell believes that players from countries like India, Australia and England earns a hefty for Test cricket, but the players of West Indies do not get such an opportunity. He said that if he also got the same salary and facilities, then he would like Test cricket equally.

“Our players struggle even after retirement”

In an interview, Russell said, “Test players in India, Australia and England get very good care. The players there play in big stadiums and they get good salary. But even if the West Indies players play 50 or 100 Tests, they still have nothing left for the future.”

“Love Test cricket, but does not get opportunities”

Russell made it clear that he likes Test cricket and he is a fan of it. However, he also said that this format could not be a part of his career and he does not consider himself responsible for this. Russell said, “I never denied Test cricket, but the selectors did not make me a part of the Test team. They considered me just a white ball player.”

Russell is currently in England

Andre Russell is currently in England, where the three -match T20 series is going on between West Indies and England. Both teams are preparing for the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.
