Delhi: Indian star batsman Shreyas Iyer batted brilliantly for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. After this, he retained the same form for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. This right -handed batsman from Mumbai scored a total of 604 runs in 17 matches for Punjab. With this, he was one of the top scorers of the tournament.

Iyer was India’s highest run -scorer in the Champions Trophy, which was played on the grounds of Pakistan and Dubai between February 19 and March 19.

Shreyas also showed amazing in captaincy

Shreyas Iyer’s batting was not only a batting, but his captaincy was also discussed a lot. He took Punjab Kings to the finals for the first time since 2014. Although he missed out on winning the IPL Trophy for the second consecutive time, but he caught everyone’s attention.

Now the captaincy of Team India is included in the race

According to the report of the Indian Express, now Iyer has officially come in the race for India’s ODI and T20 team. A board official said, “He only plays ODIs, but after this IPL it is difficult to keep him out of T20 and Tests. Now he has also joined the Race of White-Ball captaincy.”

Shreyas’s international career so far

Iyer has so far played 14 Tests, 70 ODIs and 51 T20 matches for India. His last Test was in February 2024, while the last T20 against Australia on December 2023. He made Kolkata Knight Riders champions in IPL 2024.

However, it was expected that after retirement from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s Test, Iyer will get a chance in the Test team in the series against England. But Ajit Agarkar -led selection committee did not choose him in the squad. This decision was surprised for the fans.

Iyer is currently playing for Sobo Mumbai Falcons in T20 Mumbai League 2025. Now he will again be seen on the field for Team India in August 2025, when India will play a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches against Bangladesh.
