The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League turned out to be a historic one for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they finally broke their 17-year title drought. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, RCB lifted their maiden IPL trophy and brought immense joy to their loyal fanbase.

However, not every player played a significant role in this success. A few high-profile and fringe players underperformed or failed to earn the management’s trust — and could be released ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. Here are three names that might not return in RCB colours next season:

RCB Could Release These 3 Players

Known for his power-hitting, Liam Livingstone came with high expectations and a hefty price tag of ₹10.75 crore. However, he failed to deliver consistently, scoring only 112 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 133.33, with just one half-century. Given his cost and limited impact, RCB may choose to release Livingstone to free up budget for the next auction.

South African pacer Lungi Ngidi was roped in for ₹1 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. With Josh Hazlewood injured, Ngidi got an opportunity to feature in 2 matches, picking up 4 wickets.

But an economy rate of 10.12 dented his impact. RCB’s reluctance to use him further in the season suggests a lack of confidence, and he is likely to be released ahead of next year’s auction.

Young pacer Rasikh Salam Dar has already represented four franchises in his short IPL journey. He was part of RCB’s squad in IPL 2025 but got to play only 2 matches, taking just 1 wicket at an average of 70.00.

With modest numbers overall — 10 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 40.90 and an economy of 10.62 — Rasikh may also be on the list of players RCB could release to restructure their pace attack.

While RCB’s IPL 2025 title win was monumental, retaining underperformers purely out of sentiment could hurt their chances going forward. Expect bold decisions from the franchise as they look to build a stronger, more balanced squad for IPL 2026.
