The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video of the players’ arrival on social media. “Touchdown UK. Team India have arrived for the five-match Test series against England,” the BCCI captioned the post. Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna are looking forward to the contest against Ben Stokes’ unit.
According to journalist Vimal Kumar, there were no fans or media to welcome the sub-continent team at the airport. Earlier, new Test captain Shubman Gill reflected on the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who recently bid adieu to the longest format.
“The pressure is always there when you start a tour. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are experienced players, and it will be difficult to fill the gap, but they have a lot of experience, and the players in the current team have played many Test matches,” Gill said.
“The players know how to handle the pressure. Our bowling and batting departments are good,” he added.
Gill also talked about his first reaction when informed about his appointment as Test captain.
“It was very overwhelming. I think it is a big responsibility. I am looking forward to leading the team in England. We haven’t decided on our batting order as we still have some time left.”
