Indian cricket star batsman Shreyas Iyer is doing wonders with both bat and mind these days. In the last two years, wherever he has taken the captaincy, he changed the fate of the teams. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Mumbai was a champion to Mumbai, Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024, and his captaincy in IPL 2025 to reach Punjab Kings to the finals for the first time.

Shreyas Iyer said “captaincy makes me strong”

After transporting Sobo Mumbai Falkans to the semi -finals in the T20 Mumbai League, Shreyas Iyer said, “The captaincy brings a lot of maturity and responsibility. You are always expected to perform well and you want to contribute the best for the team. The team first looks at the captain in any odd situation. I am consisting of 22 years and I am enjoying it.”

Meanwhile, there are reports that the Indian team is looking for the new ODI captain as the managing and the successor of the selector Rohit Sharma. Shreyas Iyer’s name is also coming out prominently in this race, especially in view of his recent captaincy successes.

Shreyas Iyer said that he likes to play under pressure and he inspires them.
“I try to be full focus, stay in the present and perform the situation. I tell myself that I want my name to be on the audience’s tongue and it inspires me.”

Shreyas Iyer scored 604 runs in the IPL this season, showing his leadership skills as well as the continuation of batting. He was also in great form in domestic cricket and he contributed significantly to India’s victory in the Champions Trophy 2025.
