South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada gave a befitting reply to critics with his performance on the first day of the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Rabada made history with 5 wickets in this title match being played against Australia at Lord’s. He has become only the second bowler to take five wickets in the WTC final. Prior to them, this achievement was achieved only by New Zealand’s Kyle Jaymison in 2021 against India.
Before the final match, Kagiso Rabada was being questioned. During IPL 2025, he had to be banned in drugs case for a month. He could play only a few matches for Gujarat Titans and his performance could not live up to expectations. In such a situation, the World Test Championship Final was a big platform for him to prove himself and he completely redeemed it.
Kagiso Rabada put pressure on Australia from the beginning of the match. He shook the innings by dismissing Usman Khwaja and Cameron Green in the seventh over. After this Tea break, he sent Captain Pat Cummins, Bu Webster and Mitchell Starc to the pavilion to Australia’s innings for 212 runs. Rabada took 5 wickets in 15.4 overs, spending runs at 3.30 economy rates.
Kagiso Rabada achieved another big place in Test cricket with brilliant bowling in this match. Now he has 332 Test wickets and has become the fourth most successful bowler in South Africa. He has surpassed veteran Allen Donald in this case. Ahead of them are now only Dale Stan, Sean Pollock and Makhaya Natini.
