Marcus Stoinis, who struck an unbeaten 124 to lead Lucknow Super Giants to a win over Chennai Super Kings, opened up on central contract snub by Cricket Australia.

The veteran was not offered a contract despite being a match-winner in white-ball cricket.

He finally opened up on the situation. Harsha Bhogle asked him about not getting a new contract by CA. The right-handed batter refused to blame anyone and backed Cricket Australia.

“I share a good bond with the Australia coach.

I knew I would not get a contract and I think Cricket Australia made the right decision. I am 34 and a younger player than me deserves a contract. I am ready to contribute to the team’s success,” Marcus Stoinis said.

He faced 63 balls and hit 13 fours and 6 sixes. Nicholas Pooran (34) and Deepak Hooda (17) also played handy innings.

Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad (108) and Shivam Dube (66) too the team’s total to 210/4.

Lucknow have moved to fourth spot in the table, with 10 points from 8 contests.
