Marcus Stoinis hit powerful shots against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. His sensational hundred took Lucknow Super Giants to a win by 6 wickets and also helped the team to complete a rare double over the defining champions in the 17th season. Chasing 211 runs, Lucknow lost Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul early, but Stoinis added important runs with Devdutt Padikkal (13), Nicholas Pooran (34) and Deepak Hooda (17) to take the visitors to their fifth win.
The Aussie all-rounder scored an unbeaten 124 runs off 63 balls, with the help of 13 fours and 6 sixes.
Former India player Harbhajan Singh praised Marcus for his brilliant batting and compared him with Mumbai Indians legend Kieron Pollard.
“He is better than Kieron Pollard when it comes to strength and hitting. Stoinis is a match-winner and played sensibly against Chennai. The best part about his batting is that he likes to hit straight and doesn’t fancy the other areas of the ground,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.
The pitch in Chennai became easy to bat in the second innings due to heavy dew, with CSK bowlers finding it impossible to hold the ball. Even fielders were seen slipping, resulting in extra runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a hundred, his second in the IPL career, pushing the total to 210/4. Shivam Dube played another breathtaking knock, hitting 66 runs off just 27 balls, with the help of 7 sixes and 3 fours.
