Yuzvendra Chahal continued to be sidelined in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he was not named in Punjab Kings’ Playing XI for Qualifier 1 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Mullanpur on Thursday.

Chahal, who last played against Rajasthan Royals on May 18, is reportedly nursing a wrist injury that has prevented him from rolling his arm over in the last two games.

The leg-spinner is the third-highest wicket-taker for Punjab Kings this season, with 14 scalps in 12 games. He is also the only bowler to have taken a hat-trick in this edition of the tournament so far. He achieved the feat during a league-stage match against Chennai Super Kings in late April at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

While Chahal has been a key wicket-taker for his team this season, he has been expensive, conceding runs at 9.56 runs an over. However, in his last game, he conceded only 30 runs in four overs even as Rajasthan Royals posted 209 in reply to 219 in Jaipur.
