We’ll see where it goes, says Dada

"I never really thought about it (coaching the Indian team) because I got into different roles. I finished in 2013 and then became Board (BCCI) President. We’ll see what the future holds. I’m just 50, so let’s see what happens. I’m open to it. We’ll see where it goes,” Ganguly told PTI, leaving the door open.

When asked about a potential political career, Ganguly was quick to dismiss the idea, saying, “I have no interest in that.”

Sourav Ganguly also shared his thoughts on Team India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir, praising his leadership skills while also highlighting the significance of the England tour for his coaching journey.

Ganguly said that Gambhir’s real test as head coach begins now, as the tour of England will set the tone for his tenure. He emphasized that overseas tours, especially in challenging conditions like England, are crucial in shaping a coach’s legacy.

Ganguly, who appointed Rahul Dravid as India’s head coach during his time as BCCI President, believes that Gambhir has all the qualities to succeed.

Gambhir’s contract runs till the 2027 ODI World Cup, and the cricketing fraternity will be watching closely as he embarks on this journey with a young Indian side led by Shubman Gill.
