The wk-batter Rishabh Pant has been reprimanded for breaching level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct on day 03 of the first test in India’s tour of England 2025.

It is found that Pant has breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and player support personnel, which relates to ‘showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an International Match.”

A one demerit point has been added to Rishabh Pant‘s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.

The incident took place during 61st over of England’s first innings, when the umpires checked the shape of the ball with ball gauge and decided not to change it.

He showed dissent at the umpires’ decision by throwing the ball on the ground, so there is no need of formal hearing.

The On-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Mike Burns levelled the charge.

The charges carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a players’ match fee, and one or two demerit points.

“Pant was found to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match,” the ICC said in a statement.

Rishabh Pant had a great outing in the first test having smashed back to back centuries in both the innings. His blistering century in the second innings, clubbed with KL Rahul’s hundred has helped India to post 364 runs and a set target of 371 runs for England to win.

The Three Lions has scored 21 runs for no loss at stumps on day 04 and the final day needs 350 runs to secure the first win. However, rain is predicted on Tuesday, so there might not be full 90 over possible on day 05 at Headingley.
